The aim of the project: Accelerating systemic change to create economically, ecologically and socially sustainable last-mile delivery systems.

Project activities: The GREEN-LOG project will create a LAAS (Logistics-as-a-Service) platform for interconnected urban logistics, using automated delivery concepts using autonomous vehicles and drones, freight-cycling-based innovations and multimodal parcel delivery systems integrated into the public transport network.

The GREEN-LOG approach creates a state-of-the-art simulation environment for different scenarios. By combining different solutions, last-mile delivery modes will be tested with the highest possible impact on environmental sustainability and traffic reduction, while also taking into account the financial viability of the solutions.

Solutions will be underpinned by networked urban logistics data spaces to help proactively optimise services while respecting the interests of stakeholders, including consumers, businesses and the city. A planning and decision-making support framework will help stakeholders to tailor solutions to their real objectives.

The GREEN-LOG approach will be tested in living laboratories covering different situations and economic and social conditions in five cities or peri-urban areas: Athens, Barcelona, Flanders (Ghent, Leuven and Mechelen), Oxfordshire and Ispra. The living laboratories will allow to collect qualitative and quantitative results, to validate effectiveness and to demonstrate transferability in three follow-up cities: Arad, Helsinborg and Valga.

Project partners: The project consortium consists of 29 partners. Valga municipality participates in the project as a follower city.

Project timetable: 01.01.2023 - 30.06.2026

The funder: The project is funded by the Horizon Europe Programme of the European Union. HORIZON-CL5-2021-D6-01-08 - New delivery methods and business/operating models to green the last mile and optimize road transport
